Our studio.Working for the commons.

─── 01 / Movira Studio

Some of our time
belongs to something else.

Every year, we ship products for specific communities with one simple goal: building tools that are useful, accessible and built to last. Some of those products are now used by thousands of people across multiple countries.

─── 02 / Pro bono work

The projects
we are committed to.

Products we design and run in-house, for non-profits, NGOs, shelters and public institutions. No invoice, but the same standards as on any client project.

─── 03 / Our commitment

How we organise
in service of all.

This commitment only holds because it's structured. Here's how we run it, openly, and what we get back from it.

─── Our method

Dedicated capacity allocation

A share of the team's annual capacity is reserved for engaged projects. Clients can also contribute via direct donations.

Collective focus days

Each week, time is set aside for engaged projects. Team members can also contribute outside office hours, on a volunteer basis.

Open-source ready

If a community forms around the project and asks to contribute, we make it straightforward to relicense under MIT, etc.

─── What we get back

Shared meaning

Our philosophy is simple: sharing draws good back. It's in Movira's DNA to share time and skills for the common good.

Technical learning

Non-profit constraints (radically accessible UI, low-tech, multilingual, sovereign hosting) push us to grow our skills.

Network of purpose

We meet other engaged people: designers, engineers, civil servants, citizens. A network that grows with time.
